Issue 07 · Complex · required off-street parking
The issue
A required parking space has been converted to bike parking and blocked with three white buckets every day, dropping the site below the parking count the City approved.
With the complex's own parking taken out of service, customers routinely spill onto the block and constantly block neighbors' driveways.
The code
A restaurant's required off-street parking must be provided and maintained and cannot be reduced in number or dimension without approval (SDMC Chapter 14, Article 2, Division 5; §142.0530, Table 142-05E). Required bicycle parking (§142.0530(e)) is in addition to the car spaces, not a substitute, so converting and blocking a required space drops the site below its approved count without a permit.
