The issue

Gas leaf blowers are operated against our homes in the early morning hours, before the hours the City permits, on weekdays and on weekends and holidays alike. It is a repeated pattern, not a one-off, and it starts while people are still asleep.

The code

§59.5.0502(g)(2) bars leaf-blower operation in residential zones before 8 a.m. on weekdays and before 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays. §59.5.0502(g)(3) caps them at 65 dBA measured 50 feet away.

The history

This is not new. In 2015, police responded and warned the owner of Roberto's to stop or face a citation, and the leaf blowers stopped. Over the last several months, the complex landscaper and Roberto's owner have started again. The videos below are the documentation.

Evidence

2015: the owner of Roberto's running a leaf blower steps from our homes. Police responded and warned him he would be cited if it continued.
June 30, 2026, before 6:30 a.m.: the owner of Roberto's is back at it, running a leaf blower well before the 8 a.m. limit. Note the cardboard dumped in the walkway.
July 1, 2026: the complex landscaper runs a leaf blower on Via Aprilia, right against our homes and hours before it is allowed.
July 4, 2026, 7:49 a.m.: the pressure washer running at the complex, and a leaf blower again before the 9 a.m. limit that applies on both weekends and holidays. This day was both.
